Maren Grainger-Monsen and Nicole Newnham, two filmmakers who run the Program in Bioethics and Film at Stanford University, would like to invite you to an upcoming screening of their award winning feature documentary RARE.
RARE follows and extraordinary mother in a race against time as she unites people from around the world in a quest to find a treatment for a rare genetic disease–a treatment that could save her own daughter’s life. Filmed with intimate access over three years, as the clock ticks and the stakes get higher, RARE follows the families as they travel to Puerto Rico and throughout the US in a journey to fill a drug trial they hope could prolong her daughter’s life.
RARE will screen at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco on November 1st at 6pm. This is a free screening that is part of the Bay Area Science Festival, brought to you by Stanford University School of Medicine, SPECTRUM the Stanford Center for the Clinical and Translational Education and Research (CTSA), and the Clinical Transitional Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of California San Francisco. There will be a Q&A and panel discussion following the screening.
