The AKU Society is a charity that supports patients with AKU, a rare genetic disease also known as Black Bone Disease. We have a small office in Cambridge’s AdviceHub (MAP), where this position will be based alongside the rest of the team.
The Patient Support Officer will be the main point of contact with AKU patients and their doctors across the country. He/she will ensure smooth liaison with the new National AKU Service at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, as well as providing patients with advice, training and assistance on disability benefits, lifestyle, diet and access to treatments. Frequent overnight travel to Liverpool and across the UK is expected.
